Last week, Parliamentary Secretary for Pacific Island Affairs, The Hon Richard Marles, visited our Papua New Guinea program.

His visit included a tour of our Goroka Centre where Mr Marles had an opportunity to discuss some of the barriers in delivering contraceptives and family planning services - specifically in relation to male contraceptive uptake, and greater access to long term methods, such as Implants and IUD’s.

Our team then explained different approaches to address these issues, including outreach models, and our maternal and child health programs that reach those with the greatest need. Mr Marles then toured the Goroka Centre with our Papua New Guinea Country Director, Belinda Bowling.

The whole team were honoured to host an Australian Federal representative and we trust that the experience was informative and inspiring for him, as it was for the Papua New Guinea team.
