Did you know that 58% of people worldwide who want to use condoms don’t have access to them?
In addition to lack of contraceptive access, every year there are more than 80 million unintended pregnancies occur worldwide and each year an estimated 19 million unsafe abortions are being performed.
Sexual and reproductive health covers all areas relating to reproduction, from sexual health to couples choice in the timing and the size of their family. It also covers the eradication of female genital mutilation (FGM) and increasingly, and very importantly, awareness and action to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.
Access to accurate, timely and unbiased information about sexual and reproductive health, sexual relationships and contraception is critical in supporting both women and men to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health.
Through the provision of information and services, Marie Stopes International Australias (MSIA) aim is to prevent and solve reproductive health problems, ranging from sexually transmitted infections to maternal mortality within Australia and the Asia Pacific region.
